Oceanographic Systems Support Engineer

OSIL is a leading global expert in the design & manufacture of integrated systems for environmental monitoring.  Due to unprecedented growth we are looking to expand our team with an exciting opportunity for an Oceanographic Systems Support Engineer.

 What you will be doing:

  • Take a lead role in supporting customers post installation on live systems in the field
  • Liaising across the project team to ensure the customer receives the best possible support
  • Feeding information back into the design & procurement team where required
  • Liaising with metocean engineers on site to ensure success
  • Undertaking planned and preventative maintenance, test, calibration and set up of a wide variety of metocean instrumentation where required
  • Contributing to company QHSE management systems
  • Leading on the preparation of project documentation and manuals
  • Individual Project QA

What you will have:

  • Degree Educated in oceanography/ environmental science, physical sciences or engineering
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a technical or engineering role
  • A good working knowledge of oceanographic sensors, data loggers, instrument interfaces
  • Working knowledge of IT and telemetry systems
  • A high level working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
  • Passionate, dynamic and an ability to get the task completed
  • Willingness to travel
  • Full driving licence 

What you will bring:

  • Demonstrable experience in the use of oceanographic instruments with the deployment/installation of instrumentation in coastal and offshore environments
  • Demonstrable ability of using & programming Campbell Loggers
  • Ideally practical delivery of technical projects, engineering design and experience of working in harsh environments
  • Knowledge of working from various platforms such as ports/quays/small workboats/multicats/anchor handling vessels/offshore installations etc
  • Systematic and methodical approach with a fine attention to detail
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
