Oceanographic Instrumentation Technician / Metrologist


The Instrumentation Technician role will focus on working within the calibration laboratory providing clients with cost effective high accuracy calibrations.

To continue to support our growth and further develop the market for our products, we are looking for an energetic passionate, Instrumentation Technician/ Metrologist to support our existing high profile client relationships, work with the whole OSIL team to enable further development of our maritime and subsea business globally.

 The Role

  • Day to day operation of the facility.
  • Day to day problem solving and investigations.
  • Processing of calibration results, certificates and labelling.
  • Checking and pre-approval of calibration certificates prior to signatory sign-off.
  • Liaison with other test and calibration personnel for priority tasks.
  • Cleanliness of the laboratory, associated areas, fittings and tools.
  • Technical correspondence with customers.
  • Providing input to management on continuous improvement.
  • Working unsupervised and in a timely and professional manner
  • Ensuring calibration equipment is fit for purpose, calibrated and fully functional.
  • Ensuring customer turnaround times are met.
  • Liaising with the management on a continuous basis.
  • Development of improved working practices and methodologies.
  • Highlighting potential new income sources and facility upgrades.

Deliverables

  • New reference equipment assessments and trails.
  • Improvement to processes and systems.
  • Visits to customer sites, including on-site training.
  • Contributing to both quality and technical procedures.

Experience & Qualifications 

  • The candidate is required to have at least 2 years of experience in a workshop or laboratory environment.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience with marine sampling equipment, electrical or software systems integration, systems engineering or similar, would be beneficial but not essential.
  • Evidence of Continued Professional and Personal Development inside and outside of your career to date.

ACCOUNTS ADMINISTRATOR


With experience of working within a small Accounts Department and ideally with experience of manufacturing & engineering industries.

The Role

You will be part of the accounts team communicating internally with staff and also directly with our clients and suppliers.  Responsible for running both sales and purchase ledger under the direction of Company Accountant.

Deliverables

  • Sales Ledger – Order Processing, raising Invoices and all relevant corresponding paperwork.
  • Purchase Ledger – Processing invoices, obtaining authorisation, coding, sorting queries, statement reconciliation.
  • Assisting with freight & shipping.
  • Other ad-hoc duties as assigned Inc. updating the CRM system with accurate customer / supplier information
  • General administration to support the business.
  • This is a varied role therefore it is important you have office experience within a SME. Ideally you can hit the ground running so the business can continue to run efficiently.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Computer literate, strong working knowledge of SAGE, MS Office including Excel & Outlook.
  • Be able to work to deadlines and have excellent organisational skills and have a pragmatic approach to problem solving.
  • Numerate and analytical with high accuracy and attention to detail critical.
  • Proven experience of success in a highly administrative role, in a fast pace environment.
  • Self-motivated, organised, can priorities and must be customer focused.
